K (cider)

K is a British cider manufactured and distributed by the Gaymer Cider Company of Bath, England.

Advertised under the slogan 'Strong. Refreshing. Different.', the canned version available in the UK is 8.4% ABV. At one time, two bottled versions were available, 8.4% and "K6" at 6.3%. The bottled version available in the US was 6.9%. As of 2010, only cans are manufactured, and K is no longer available in the U.S. at all except via special order.

Cans and bottles of K have a highly distinctive look, coloured black with a scarlet K in the centre of the container. Each can has the following legend printed upon it: "It has always been presumed that 'X' means strength however premium liquids of a superior quality have always been marked with a 'K'. So when you want the ultimate in quality, look for this K." They also claim that every bottle of K is hand-crafted. Some cans of K featured a red label along the top of the can, which proclaimed that the receiver of the can will receive "12.5% extra free." Whilst at first this offer may seem appealing, the reality is that this sized can is the more common of the two and the K cider enthusiast is unlikely to receive any extra drink than they had previously been expecting, had they indeed expected this usual measure. However, smaller cans are available in packs of 4 at supermarkets such as Tesco's. The back of the can of K is more detailed in the information given about that drink that is contained within. When looking upon the back of a can you are likely to see the following things on the can, although this is not limited to the upcoming items as they may well feature other things depending on a variety factors such as where the can originates. The can is the preferred choice of those that drink K. Because it's so large.

Also in the bottled variety there was an ultra violet Limited Edition in a mauve bottle which reflected UV light for the club scene.

K has gained a cult following in certain areas of London. A "K-Cider Festival" is held each summer at Twickenham Recreation Grounds; the most recent event was held on 5 August 2010.  The 2011 Event was headlined by Limp Bizkit and held on 15 Aug 2011

Martin Allen, the manager of Notts County FC claims to be a huge fan of the drink.
